Have you all heard this stuff?

What do you think about this? Cool? Or blaspheme?

I'm not a big fan of Hip-Hop, but some of these tracks are pretty neat...

I think this came up before and I believe I said I liked it. Still do. Clearly the guys who did the mash up has some knowledge of the Dead and used it well.

Free your ass, and your mind will follow.

If you like, check out The Grey Album - Danger Mouse mashing up Jay-Z with The Beatles White Album.

Same guy that gave you "Crazy" (with a little help from Cee-Lo) and now Broken Bells, which was just released a week or so ago (him and the lead guy from The Shins)

I hope Gnarls Barkley hits the road again. I'd love to see those guys.

Here's a great video of Crazy:

Jay-Z sucks and the Dead samples actually improve his crappy form of hiphop but it's still like putting lipstick on a pig.

Couldn't get this link to load on my iPhone, but I have heard a dj who mixed an entire jay z album with golden gate 1975 as the backdrop music.

I had looked and looked for it, but to no avail. It went very well together and many in the hip hop community consider jay z as a lyrical genious, and somewhat a reigning don or godfather who still holds it down. His hardknock life vol II, is his most creative IMHO. His latest works may be on the more commercial and mainstream side of the hip hop game.

This may not be the 75 show, with a shakedown reference. Anyone?

Cliff, many thanks for this link! Like you, I'm no fan of hiphop/rap but this is a lot of fun to dip into, and really just amazingly well done. It's astonishing how well the two styles of music blend together. So far, I'm really liking track 5 - it's what Shakedown was meant for!

Wow. That's a note worthy mashup. I'll listen more for the novelty, but I'm of the opinion that after Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five, hip hop is dead. I'm probably wrong, but I'm not going to do the work to prove it.

It's a good thing none of the band would have any involvement with hip hop.

Cool...both Bob and Jerry apparently dug hip hop.

Doesn't change my opinion of it in the slightest.

That's fine - not out to change your opinion. I just find it odd that people can dismiss an entire genre of music. Like people that "hate" country or opera. I figure there's good and bad to be found in most areas (like, say, most Dead shows).
